You will be able to (re)dicover the Sala dos Capelos, the main room of the
University; the magnificent Biblioteca Joanina (Library) – of remarkable
architecture dating from the 18th centuty, it houses around 200 000 books;
Cárcere (Prision), which was used between 1593 and 1773; the University
Tower - constructed between 1728 and 1733, is considered the ”mother”
of all European University towers and it houses, in addition to the clocks,
the bells that regulate the Univerity functions; and, finally, the Chapel
of St. Michael. After the visit, a walk through picturesque streets will lead you to the Town Hall, where dinner will take place. |
